Not sure how I am suppose to celebrate Hiroshima Day. After an intense firebombing campaign, the US, Britain, and China warned Japan of imminent utter destruction if they didn't surrender. We were exhausted by the war with Germany and angered by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Regardless of the four days of fliers being dropped, warning of the attack, the United States targeted civilians, used the event as a weapons test and show of might, and dropped another bomb days after the first, which many argue was militarily unnecessary, rather just another test. There are those who believe our other option was to send in troops at a massive loss of lives on all sides and that these plans were drawn up and ready to implement should Japan not surrender.
