I think phones should be allowed in school, we may not have to be on them all the time but we should at least be able to have them incase we need to call someone or if we have free time in a class we could play games, listen to music, or use google, dictionary.com, and an example of is our history book is online and at school sometimes there’s not enough chromebooks or Ipads. Mobile devices are kind of like a drug that children, teens, and young adults can’t seem to put down and that’s not always a good thing. The reason this isn’t always a good thing is because some kids don’t go outside and play, hang out with friends or know how the real world works, most kids would rather play video games and be in a virtual world. The kids that are so addicted to electronics end up nowhere because they don’t know how to deal with real people in life. In article #1 it says “ Lets turn this into a learning device and maybe eventually teens will see it more than just a device for entertainment.”…

It is often argued that cell phones should get banned from schools. To begin, students could get bullied because they are obese. They can get obese because they sit down all day on their phones, (Source 4). In this case, if some students are sitting on their phone all day they won’t necessarily get obese because there is no difference from sitting down all day on their cell phones than sitting in class doing work because they are still sitting down and they are still not exercising because they are doing absolutely nothing in school. It is the parents problem if they are on their phones all day when they get home and not at school.…

Should kids be allowed to have cell phones in class when they should be better spending their time on studying? Nowadays the typical image that pops into mind when someone mentions class rooms is that of a unorganized, chaotic room where teacher is droning on about the French revolution while the kids are busy texting each other, playing games on their phones and generally ignoring the teacher. Who would like to listen to something boring that happened a hundred years ago when you have the latest version of the subway surfer installed in your smart phone? Mobiles should not be allowed in class rooms because they are a sign of disrespect to the teacher. Cell phones distract students from their lectures and they can be used for cheating in a test.…

Hello, I’m Nate Sunker and I’m writing to on the urgent matter of cell phone use in secondary schools. This is an outdated policy that is overlooked by so many school executives who are chiefly looking at outdated studies and research. Newer research has shown that today’s cell phones are able to let students connect with the topic, communicate and keep safe, and improve students’ abilities inside and outside of school. Because of that, this issue cannot be ignored, and needs to be solved by the start of school this fall. To start off, Cell phones can be used to delve deeper into class at school and at home.…

According to Liz Kolb at the University of Michigan School of Education, “Close to 70 percent of schools that had cell phone bans in place five years ago are reversing their policies.” As this number rises and rises, it leads many to wonder whether lifting the cell phone ban is the right thing to do. Due to the recent uproar, more and more research is being completed on how phones affect students in the classroom. Many believe that when teachers allow students to use their devices, the student productivity decreases significantly. However, others think that teenagers can use these resources to their advantage and benefit from them in the future.…

Cell phones are great, but they just cause so many distractions in school. When students ask if they can look up something, they just gonna get on social media to look at how many likes they got on instagram or how many followers they have. Since we have been talking about cell phones as our writing unit, it made me think of so many reasons why we shouldn’t have cell phones in school. One example from an article called “ Schools seek balance for cellphones in class” says that the texting, tweeting, and Snapchatting during class time is an incredible distraction, and it makes it harder for teachers to teach. Another example from the article” Schools seek balance for cellphones in class” is teachers will get kids saying “ I’ll look something up for English, and while I’m here let me quickly check my Instagram or Twitter feed’ From this article, these were some good reasons why schools shouldn’t allow cell phone usage in school.…

For example, some people might hide their phones during a test and search up the answers so that they get good grades. This is bad in 2 ways. One is the fact that you’re not supposed to be cheating in the first place and two, cheating on a test won’t prove how you are really doing in academics in school. All of these things can be major distractions in school and all students shouldn’t do the things I have mentioned above. So how do we fix this?…

Cellphone use time and time again has been thought by teachers and adults to affect the learning ability and it distracts them but does it? Many believe that if you ban the phones in schools and in learning areas then the students will learn but there is no substantial evidence. An article written by Kevin Hart said “Many teachers say cell phones have officially replaced chewing gum as the new classroom menace.” Use of cellphones should be left up to the students: they are solely responsible for their learning, they will always find other ways to cheat, and they need them for emergencies. Millions have addressed banning the cell phone use, in learning areas such as school and work areas.…
