The Controversy Of Banning Cell Phones In Schools

Did you know that twenty- four percent of our nation’s schools have banned cell phones from being on school grounds? Is it because teachers think it is too much of a distraction? Almost every kid these days has some sort of phone that they carry around with them wherever they go. For the most part, they can use it any place they want...except in schools. Although others might think they should be banned in educational institutions, I think that cell phones should be allowed in our schools. Cell phones can help to enhance learning and if there is an emergency you can call someone quickly. However, this is not always the case. Accidents and emergencies can happen out of view of a school employee and sometimes the seconds or minutes that it could take to find an adult, could make the difference between life or death. Bullies are a big problem in schools and in case a bully is threatening a student, students are able to contact a parent/guardian to come pick them up after school.” The threat of bullies is a reality and the ability to reach out for assistance before a situation occurs can help prevent future issues.
