A. Attention-getter: How do you feel when you have to wait for something you really, really want? What if it was something you literally couldn’t live without? According to an article written by The National Kidney Foundation in 2005, “Nearly 10% of the patients currently waiting for liver transplants are young individuals under the age of 18.” That was us last year. Now could you imagine that was our little siblings and cousins or some neighborhood child you see running around all the time? That statistic is only for livers, not to mention all other vital organs.

III. Satisfaction
A. Some people may have this high controversial mentality towards donating because they essentially believe that organ donation is against their religion. The body is a temple and is sacred, however it is only flesh and not attached to our sentient being.
1. According to Mayo Clinic, “Organ donation is consistent with beliefs of most major religions. This includes Roman Catholicism, Islam, most branches of Judaism and most Protestant faiths.” (2013).
2. In an article written by Donate Life Tennessee, the author says that donating organs is considered a great gift in the eyes of most religions. It is an act of kindness and almost all religions stress being kind to others (n.d).
B. Many people also believe that if you donate organs you cannot have an open casket funeral.
1. This is incorrect according to the Office of Women’s Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service. It is said within this article that, ”Donations do not change the appearance of the body. Organs are removed surgically in a routine operation” …show more content…
It is giving someone a second chance and an improved quality of life.
1. When you have passed on and no longer have use for your organs, someone else will.
2. If you are finished and have used all that you can out of your organs why not give them to someone else.

A. As I earlier explained there are many reasons why you should become an organ donor. Not only are many myths about donating false, but there are organs that are not necessary to you and you are helping to save lives.
B. Everyone should consider becoming a certified organ donor.
C. Donating your organs is not just about the life you are saving. Your choice to donate will be more than saving a life. It is giving someone another shot at joy. You may be saving the scientist who cures cancer, or the next bill gates, or maybe some little girl who has yet to see the brighter side to life’s extraordinary wonders. As Mahatma Ghandi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” You could never know the potential of the person that you are saving, so why not leave this earth by embedding a significant footprint of
