The factor that plays the biggest role as to why women experience abortions is the influence of other people towards the pregnant woman. Since men can have sex whenever and with whoever and not really become affected, that puts a lot of pressure on women. In order to have sex with women, men will just tell them to get an abortion if they do end up pregnant (“Impact of Abortion on Society”) Once men find out that a woman is pregnant, it is easy for them to just run off. Women usually fear that they will be abandoned if they do not have an abortion. Men’s influence on women can cause women to forget to think twice, instead just do (“Impact of Abortion on Society”). According to Kurt Eihenwald, “… the most frequent reasons given by women for terminating a pregnancy are financial. In a survey conducted in 2004, three-quarters of the women who chose an abortion said it was because they did not have the financial ability to care for a child” (Eihenwald). Women do not feel well enough financially to raise a child on their own, thus they feel that abortion is the best fix to avoid it. Emotionally women may feel desolate about ending their pregnancy as well as some guilt or emptiness as she may not know if that was the correct decision or not. Post-abortive silence is the emotional impact that women face because of abortion (Masse). Mentally women may encounter multiple mental breakdowns about her decision that causes her to doubt herself (Masse). When women suffer socially, it usually affects themselves as well as the other people involved. According to the New Zealand Resource group, women’s future relationships are affected, “In a study of 100 women, 40 percent agreed that the abortion provoked a major crisis in their lives which was frequently followed by an unstable marriage or social relationship” (“Impact of Abortion on Society”). Not only are women affected by abortion, but, men can feel unwanted or unneeded as their role of providing and protecting in a family is no longer needed when the fetus is aborted (“Impact of Abortion on Society”). There are multiple physical effects on women from abortion. Some of those physical effects include: pelvic infection, blood clots in the uterus, heavy bleeding, cut or town cervix, and a tear in the wall of the uterus (Masse).
