Within the American school system, there has been a controversial debate about cell phone usage during the school day. Teachers, students, and parents have had different impressions about the situation regarding if having phones during teaching and learning should be obligatory. There are both benefits and disadvantages to both sides of both arguments.
Utilizing cell phones within the American school system has caused quite the controversy. There has been cases where teachers or administration has taken actions above and beyond to prevent students from using their cellular devices. Giving students the privilege to access their cell phones can result in them taking advantage. Such as texting at inappropriate times, playing video games, and being on social media. Even though these things can certainly be distracting, there are advantages for texting, and even social media during school. In article 2, it makes a claim about students having to complete projects, but not being all together. Being able to message someone in your group that isn’t currently at school can be a major advantage to the student that’s absent, and the student that is currently at school at the time.
Schools can easily lessen the restrictions on students using their phones. If they took the time to realize the major advantages that phones have, they would understand why people are against having the ban on cell phones. Many advocates that are against it doesn’t realize that using cell phones in school have given students the lead to be more participant and active in their school work. This is because most students have a better, and easier time learning if they have certain technology to guide them into the right direction. This enables them to have a more enjoyable time
