Bernie Sanders Informative Speech

Can you imagine how different the United States moral would be changed if Bernie Sanders became the 45th president? For those of you that don’t know, Bernie Sanders is potentially the next president of the United States. Biography.com shares that Bernie came from a struggling working-class family. He went to high school at James Madison High School and eventually furthered his education at Brooklyn College, and the University of Chicago where he eventually graduated in 1964 with a degree in political science. Bernie got his first elected position in 1981 when he was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont by only 12 votes. In 2006 he decided to run for senate and won. In 2015, he announce that he would be running as a democrat in the 2016 election. …show more content…
On Bernie Sander’s official website, berniesanders.com, he shares his aspirations on how he is going to make college free and why it should be free. He starts off by sharing how other countries are making college free and why shouldn’t we? He wants the federal government to stop making a profit on student loans. He believes that it is not right to do such a thing to those who have the ambition to learn. His plan to pay for free college is by imposing a tax to Wall Street speculators. Npr.org says that Bernie Sanders plan will not work. They say that if colleges know that all students college educations are free, the will raise the price to where eventually they would be forced to drop the tax and the price for college would be much higher than what it is today and the student would be in even more debt. When Bernie Sanders shared how other countries are beginning to have their colleges be free, he did not mention that only one of the countries he shared does better when it comes to educational attainment. The United States has the most educated workforce in the world, so making students pay for their college isn’t necessarily a big deal. If students do not want to go to college, and have a job that doesn’t require much skill, it is their own fault. The United States has plenty of students who go to school and get the …show more content…
This is an idea that is completely disastrous. I imagine that if the minimum wage went up that high, most companies couldn’t afford having as many employees as they have right now. Raising the minimum wage would cost so many people their jobs. I imagine that the result that would effect everyone the most is price changes. For example, a mcdouble at McDonald’s cost $1.50, if the minimum wage was to go up, the cost would be very different. I imagine the same hamburger would sell for $5. Minimum wage was originally intended for part time workers and high school workers who want a little money in their pockets. I agree with Bernie Sanders on his website when he says that for those who work 40 hours a week under minimum wage should not be in poverty, but we should not raise the minimum wage to help the adults that are living off of minimum wage. Those adults need to find a real job that can pay more than the minimum

Sanders wants to make so it's easier to pay for schooling is for students not having to reaply each year for financial aid and for student loan rates to be reduced ( feelthebern.org 2 ). Another thing that is so hard for students is finding a job just out of college. Companies want to hire new graduates but they want the graduate to have at least one to three years of experience first. Senator Bernie Sanders is a Senator from Vermont who started his life of politics at a young age. Senator Sanders comes from a family of immigrants, his father came to America in 1921 at the age of 17. With his father being an immigrant this undoubtedly shaped the way he views immigrant laws. Living in Brooklyn in the early 1930’s, Senator Sanders became aware of Hitler’s rise to power and tyranny. Being Jewish himself, watching millions of innocent people of his own religion die in the hands of a corrupt leader triggered Senator Sanders to take up in interest in politics to try to understand why things like this happened and attempt to make a positive difference in politics.…

Minimum Wage Although it may seem like a good idea to many people, raising minimum wage would hurt the United States in many different ways. The people fighting to raise it aren’t aware of the many problems that this would lead to if we raised the minimum wage from seven dollars and twenty-five cents too around fifteen or even ten dollars. These drawbacks could be jobs being lost, higher taxes, and inflation, all of which would defeat the purpose of raising minimum wage. Many jobs are minimum wage and many of those jobs would dissolve.…

    Raising Minimum Wage

Minimum Wage should not be raised because it is a sneaky way to increase welfare spending and raise taxes. Raising the minimum wage puts money in the pockets of working poor people, at the expense of business owners. To increase the income tax credit or other work-related welfare benefits, politicians should do the hard work of building political support for such policies, rather than choosing the roundabout approach of a minimum wage increase. Minimum wage would also eliminate jobs. Jobs such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, and other fast food restaurants are just jobs that are a stepping stone to a better job.…

One of the most frequently asked questions in our country seem to be should minimum wage be raised or should it be lowered or eliminated altogether, from where I stand minimum wage should be raised. Changes to the minimum wage would strengthen the economy and business, lift Americans out of poverty. Paying people a fair wage is a sign of respect and acknowledgement of the value of people contributions to the business. Increasing the minimum wage will lower the poverty level. While an increase in the minimum wage would raise the earnings of many workers and lift some families above the poverty line, some minimum-wage workers would remain poor.…

Recently, many people are calling for an over 100% increase in the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $15 an hour. There is a claim that it would be good for the economy in many ways. Raising Minimum Wage

Raising the minimum wage throughout the United States could have great benefits to some, at the same time many other problems could actually arise. President Obama states that a family cannot live off of a salary of 7.25 an hour, especially without government help. I believe this is not true, already many jobs pay higher than the minimum wage and the jobs that only offer 7.25 tend to be specially intended for high school teens or people who don’t have a whole household to take care of. It must be really hard to be stuck forever at a job that pays only 7.25, but if the government makes a law and raises the minimum wage to for example 9 or 15 dollars per hour, all this people with “minimum skills” would be rewarded costing them no extra effort…

The hot topic of discussion today in the U.S. is currently the minimum wage rate. It all dates to when New Zealand passed the very first national minimum wage law in 1894. The U.S. history leads us back to when President Roosevelt signed a law in 1938 as part of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. Back then, the wage was set to 25 cents an hour. That adds up to about $4 per hour in our currency system.…

Increasing the minimum wage could cut back on taxpayers billions of dollars because low wage workers would be making an increase in salary and would not need assistance, therefore taxpayers dollars would not go towards their needs. As a matter of fact, a living wage should be put in place instead, because it is the minimum income…
