Ludwig Van Beethoven was baptized on December 17, 1770 in Bonn,Germany. The exact date of his birth is unknown but due to the tradition at the time of baptizing children a day after their birth it is estimated that he was born on December 16, 1770. Beethoven was one of seven children, three boys and four girls, out of which only the three boys made it to adulthood.
His father, who was a court singer and an alcoholic began teaching him music at a very early age. Beethoven inherited his musical ability from his grandfather whose name he shares, who was the most prominent musician in Bonn.
