Born on November 11, 1744, Despite never having a formal education Abigail was very inquisitive and read many books to gain knowledge. Abigail Smith married John Adams in 1764. When John left home to be a solider, a lawyer and then president, Abigail had to take on his financial responsibilities as well as raise their 4 children.
