Dahlstrom is a senior examiner at the US Small Business Administration. He earned a PhD from Arizona State University. His research has covered areas in leadership and management as well as other important business sectors. He is also a faculty associate at Arizona State University. The article covers the contingency model of leadership by Fiedler. Although at first glance, this seems irrelevant, it is relevant. The contingency model of leadership discusses leadership styles that are better suited for certain situations. This correlates nicely with Hersey-Blanchard’s situational leadership model. To do this, the authors discuss the contingency leadership theory, which includes situational leadership theories. This information was found in other articles and will be explored in the literature review. The data was compiled using the Leadership Effectiveness instrument that was developed by Hersey and Blanchard. The authors are all faculty at the Universiti Putra Malaysia in the educational studies department. Silong has a doctorate, is a professor, and a published author. One of the styles discussed is the tri-dimensional leadership effectiveness model, which is a model that Hersey and Blanchard created and covers situational leadership. That model is looked at for effectiveness. It also breaks down Hersey and Blanchard’s leadership styles into four parts. The authors conclude the article by stating the Hersey and Blanchard’s model should be used to increase leadership effectiveness. Although the article is about academic leadership, it is applicable to leadership in general and has a great deal of information on situational leadership.

This article discusses transformational leadership from the perspective of senior leadership. Included in the research is the topic of the situational leadership model. The theory is expanded in the article to discuss points such as situational judgment and tacit knowledge. However, following the topic of situational leadership throughout the article is not easy. Although this article may be helpful, it would not provide a great deal of information useful to the literature review. Two of the authors are professors and one is an assistant professor.
