Capital punishment, also referred to as the death penalty, is a controversial topic that has prevailed for decades. The debate is not one without intense emotions, adding to the complexity of the issue, and has become more complicated with the progression of social science. The constitutionality of capital punishment has been questioned more often than not, by the general public as well as its enforcers.
