The constitution of Brazil, “adopted on February 24, 1891” is much an adaptation of the US Constitution, in which it had, “adopted the separation of powers, checks and balances, bicameral legislature, federalism, and direct elections” (Brazil: A Country Study, 1997). The United States of Brazil also known as the Federative Republic of Brazil became independent from the Portugal Monarchy in 1822 and became a democracy, (Brazil: A Country Study, 1997). It is made of a three-branch government which consists of The Executive Branch, The Legislature Branch, and The Judiciary Branch much like the United States of North America.
