Everyone thinks they know what’s wrong and what’s right, there are different types of ethics, and they all are different. We put these ethics through everything your life, others life, and even objects. This essay is going to be about Utilitarianism and Kantian ethics, also talking about the driverless car, and how there are ethic issues, that can cause problems.
Utilitarianism is based on examining the consequences of any act with the rate of an act being determined by the maxim which is the greatest good for the greatness number. Which allows people to determine if one should tell a lie depends on the consequences. Here is an example suppose a doctor suspects …show more content…
Having driverless car is like the Trolley Problem which is a store about a trolley is barreling toward five people tied to the tracks ahead. You can switch the trolley to another track with only one person tied down, it relates because if the vehicle is going to have to make a choice similar to that and if the car is deciding or another people, how do you know what is a right decision or not. I think cars should have a utilitarian algorithm, if you get in a wreck and it only kills one person it isn’t as bad as killing 5 or more people, there will be more grief with the five or more killing. Even though that one person had friends and family, there is less grief and more happiness. Most people would want the car to protect the driver, you paid for the car, so it should choose you. But, I would rather have the car protect the others outside the vehicle, I wouldn’t want to be the rather children die, or other people die. I don’t think humans should be programming car to make decisions, a car doesn't have emotion or even the knowledge of what right or wrong, even though some of the human reactions are rash, we still know what to do. If a car could make a decision, it could kill you, or a lot of people they could have been avoided if controlled your own car. I think I have a utilitarian view, I would want more …show more content…
Are you the type of person who thinks if there is more happiness then is morally then you are a utilitarianism or do you think if you can’t make it a universal law then it's not morally then you more of Kantian ethics. If you pick on of those does driverless car broke those rules, probably driverless car have to decide between killing more people or fewer people or you, it would probably try to save you, which could kill more people, and you can make a universal law cause then everyone would be killing everyone the world wouldn’t
