Society today is no better than what it was back then. Yes, some things have improved, but people’s thoughts and actions are still the same. People have the same views that if one person does something bad, then all of a certain race, religion, or gender is the same. Right now, sexism is a big one in our country. Sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women on the basis of sex. Men still believe that they are superior to women and our new president, Mr. Donald Trump, has this mind set. There are still more men in politics than there are women. As I was reading Margaret Atwood’s short story, I found a sexist aspect that people use others just for sex. This lead to many negative outcomes in just a few of the endings.

Men always want to be better at everything and make themselves look superior over others, while women like to talk about their problems and seek advice and support from others. An example of this is, “To Josh, checking with his wife would mean he was not free to act on his own… Linda actually enjoys telling someone ‘I have to check with Josh.’ It makes her feel good to show that her life is intertwined with her husband’s.” (Tannen). This shows just how much men and women’s viewpoints differ. Men may feel like children having to ask their wife for permission, and many other men would make fun of another man for doing so.
