“Professor, will there be a practical exam?” Making whoopee. Doing the tango. The birds and the bees. The Hanky-Panky. No matter what we want to call it, sex is sex. The debate on how we should educate our children, the future generations, about it has been something that the American society has not been able to agree upon. Sex is one of those topics that everyone has a hard time to control or police because it is an action that affects people and their life decisions and will always be a personal choice no matter what laws are passed to say otherwise. The biggest controversy regarding sex is how to educate our youth so that they too can make well-informed decisions about their body to avoid severe consequences later in life. Many parents seem uncomfortable with having the “sex talk” with their children, but the reality is (found from research by the CDC survey) that parents are in fact trying to spread the message and that it is reaching the youth. The sex- education class for parents should focus on how parents can approach the “sex-talk”, what tactics to use, and what they should be informing their children. Because sex in many homes is based on moral, religious and personal standards, the class will just help to jumpstart the parents’ confidence in the subject and then apply the information they want from their own personal experiences. It is one of the few things that a family has control of in order to teach and inform the children within it. Using this approach would then help politicians and the American society end the debate on sex education in schools. Any tactic that gets people talking about sex, informing the youth should be considered. With teen pregnancy and sexual transmitted diseases being a never- ending aspect of society, parents who then are responsible in establishing religious and ethical values for their children should be responsible for the sexual values their children would then be exposed
