Obesity is one of the most common health problems in the United States that affects severely not only the individual, but also the environment. It leads to a lot of complications. Unfortunately, some people don’t have the courage to make the right choice when it comes to eating, drinking and exercising. This is a national problem that influences our government. Obesity becomes an environmental epidemic disease in our society.
Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat is accumulated. Science and medical research discovered that the obesity can affect the human health with serious complications, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and other chronic illness. No one choose to become obese. Genes, poverty, injury, workplace and lifestyle play a role in the development of obesity. A NEWSWEEK post about Glamour recent plus size model ( In fact, a normal – sized women a bit of a belly roll) had several commenter’s lashing out at the positive reaction of the model was receiving. “This model issue is being used as a smoke screen to justify self- destructive life style that cost me more money in health care,” one wrote. Some people are working hard to improve their healthy conditions; those people need encouragement by educating them, making healthy food accessible and rules regulations on food label. For example a can of soda has 150-200 calories that equal 10 teaspoons of sugar which contributes to weight gain. Obesity is widespread especially in groups with poor diet management. Also economy seems to play an important role in health quality including obesity. Some people don’t have the money to afford healthy food; they will go buy whatever they can to survive. Most of the time where they live they don’t have a supermarket that carries healthy food. Now we have alternatives, hopefully we continue to pay close attention to what we eat, so we can maintain our health and weight.
