The Consequences Of Assange Profession

Decent Essays
Originally, Assange described his career as a hacker, but an individual’s perceptions might differ in how his profession is viewed. In my opinion, I think Assange profession is all of the above except a journalists. I don’t think he can be considered a journalist just because he did not gather his information first hand, but acquired it from leaked sources. In an ethical sense I don’t think his occupation really matters. If he was still the CEO and editor of WikiLeaks, still leaking secrets to the world the consequences of his actions would still remain the same regardless of his occupation.

I agree with Peter Vincent about El Chapo being simple to catch. In my view, if El Chapo decided to remain public, then he was bound to be easily spotted and caught. In addition, I believe that all that heat from people exclaiming that he was so magnificent got to his head and he deemed himself untouchable. Some might object to El Chapo being simple to capture, of course, on the grounds that he still remains in the hierarchy of all drug lords. Yet I would argue that simply being a significant drug lord does not mean that you can’t make mistakes and basically turn yourself in.…

Hell, a place of corruption ,hardship, and endless complications to endure. Inescapable from all fears and tribulations both mentally and physically. This idea of what being Hell is exactly what Jean-Paul Sarte is trying to portray within the novel "No Exit". Recently, I watched an episode of Manhunt: Unabomber on Discovery channel. His work, Industrial Society and its Future, was mentioned several times throughout the episode and it sparked my interest. Ted Kaczynski’s theory is that technology has become such a big part of our lives that it would be near impossible to function without it. This was something that grabbed my attention because despite the fact that technology is a helpful tool, it also has the power to destroy our society.…

The State of War by James Risen was placed during Bush’s (43rd) presidency and the corruption of the CIA. The Soviet Union collapse marked the beginning of corruption in the CIA. The director of the CIA was George Tenet, who was very close to George W. Bush. Tenet was seen by the public as “an honest broker of intelligence”, meanwhile in private he would tell people what they wanted to hear, then go to others and tell them the opposite of it. One of the main reasons that Tenet stayed on as the director of the CIA during George W. Bush’s presidency was due to the fact that Bush (41st) urged his son to keep Tenet.…

Analysis The events of Scandal 5x09 sent shockwaves through the fandom as different factions began to argue over the circumstances of her abortion. The response was overwhelmingly negative and prompted reactions from, not only the fans, but also the network itself. The visceral audience reaction and critique in addition to the studio’s counter-posts on various social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc) show contradictory opinions about the unexpected (the abortion) and how the event should be interpreted. The brutal breakup scene that followed the abortion was perceived as “the absolute last straw for another big part of the fandom”, as one fanfiction writer states in an Author’s Note before continuing her story, Shattering Expectations.…

J.D. Stroube wrote in Caged by Damnation that, “Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life. You can spend your life wallowing in despair, wondering why you were the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain, or you can be grateful that you are strong enough to survive it.” One of the unanswered questions I have had to contemplate these past nine weeks is, “Are humans inherently good or bad?” To answer this question many others come about like, “Is morality due to the influence of society or was society only created as a guideline to our morality.” Morals are a person's standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them…

Villains are an interesting bunch in that the same person can be seen as both minor/major, or helpful/dangerous. I guess the same could be said about heroes though. Chuck Klosterman, a best selling author, wrote an essay titled “Electric Funeral,” a chapter of I Wear the Black Hat: Grappling with Villains (Real and Imagined), which details villains of today-different types of technocrats. The three “villains” he mainly focuses on are Perez Hilton, Kim Dotcom, and Julian Assange, who each vary greatly on the spectrum of their acts. Hilton is a blogger who likes to post photoshopped pictures and articles, Dotcom created Megaupload, a website to post copyrighted material illegally, and Assange is the head creator of WikiLeaks.…

The Vendetta, a short story by Guy de Maupassant, is about an old mother who relentlessly avenging her son’s brutal death. Maupassant raises some important points for consideration about the idea of revenge. There are mainly four characters in this story, the widow of Paolo Saverini, her son Antonia, their dog “Semillante” and the assassin, Nicolas Ravolati. This story shows the strictness of the “Vendetta”, when the old mother promises to take his son’s revenge. The story takes place in Bonifacio and Sardinia, where rule of law does not exist at all and the lonely old mother has to fulfill her vow in any way possible.…
