ASU do not tolerate academic dishonestly in any form and committing plagiarism can have serious consequences. Consequences can result in expulsion from the academy, destruction of the work, failing the specific assignment, withdrawal from the course or with the grade XE and or a record that indicates that you committed academic dishonest that could potentially ruin future plans (Academic Integrity and Plagiarism: Consequences of Academic Misconduct and Plagiarism 2014). Arizona State University has provided some basic techniques that can aid toward avoiding the situation by a 3 simple rules: paraphrase, quote and cite your source (Academic Integrity and Plagiarism 2014). Paraphrasing is simply restating the ideas that were obtained using your own ideas and creativity and give credit to the original source. Another method is quoting your source by using direct quotation, which also requires giving credit to the original source. Alternative method is to cite your source called in-text citation and as well as listing the source at the end of the paper called “Work Cited or References.” There are many forms of plagiarism such as self- plagiarized, copying from another sources and taking credit for it, paraphrasing without foot noting it etc. Following these three simple rules can that can easily avoid plagiarism and its consequences. There are alternative methods that can help prevent plagiarism with program such as Grammarly, White Smoke Just Write and Plagiarisma.Net, etc. and others such as writing tutor
