The Negative Consequences Of World War II

World War Two was the most destructive war of all time. 50 million people died in the few short years that this war took place. Millions of the lives lost where civilians; people who weren’t near battle nor looking for a fight. Around the world millions of Jews, Russians, Chinese and Japanese civilians where negatively effected by the war. Much of the reasoning behind the civilian casualties during World War Two was for the greater good, and nationalism for ones country. Regardless of the millions of civilian deaths and the mental trauma that many received after the war, the effects and consequences of the war would, and are still lasting for many years after the war finally ended. The reasoning behind the many civilian deaths is numerous. Some countries felt attacking civilians would destroy moral, while others simply killed for the grater good of their country. The ideology of killing for the benefit of ones country can be seen clearly in Rudolf Hoss wartime experiences. Rudolf Hoss was a very well decorated Nazi SS. Many countries use this as a tactic to use popular opinion to end a war. This tactic was used during the Atomic Bomb dropping. The United States of America was convinced that a country like Japan would never surrender. With the dropping of the Atomic Bomb and the death of millions of citizen, the United States hoped to destroy all support the Japanese had for the war. This plan worked and the war was over with Japan without a large amount of American casualties. This was a major reason for dropping the bomb. Many American leaders decided that it would save more lives and be less harmful to America if the bombs would be dropped. An invasion into Japan would have risked the lives of millions of Americans and possibly made the war longer and harder then it already
