In The Conquest of Happiness by Bertrand Russell, he states that his purpose for writing this piece is to simply suggest a cure for the day-to-day unhappiness from which most people in civilized countries commonly suffer (23-24). In order for one to be able to reach happiness, however, one must first realize certain things that can bring about unhappiness. In the text, Russell states that a key element that often brings one unhappiness is envy. In this paper, I would like to further gaze upon the envy Russell speaks of.
