Roof, Roof, Roof! Too often I heard this coming from my neighbors’ backyard at three o’clock in the morning. They had a little Shih Tzu named Oreo, because of his black and white fur. They would leave their dog outside at night and poor Oreo’s bark would keep me up all night long. I would always tell my mom that it was not right for them to neglect their dog the way that they did. I always would think to myself, “What if I just hopped the fence and brought the dog to my house … would they even notice? Or would they just be happy that they no longer had to deal with all the strings that came along with owning a dog as a pet?” I never was allowed to say anything to my neighbors when I saw them in the front yard because my mom would tell me that it was none of my business and that I must respect my elders.
After a while, I started to feel that I had an obligation to help Oreo whenever I could. When I would hear him barking, I would go outside with treats and feed him through the tiny hole in the fence that separated our yard from theirs. When my mom and I would go shopping for our dog, Reese, I would always ask my mom if it were okay for me to buy a toy for Oreo. She was always willing to support my decision to help Oreo, whether it was that she felt as sorry for Oreo as I did or because she was just happy that I

What some don’t realize is that most people that abuse animals are also the people who are abusive to their family members or friends. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or more commonly known as the ASPCA, “Researchers have documented a strong connection between animal abuse and domestic violence. A study from 11 U.S. cities revealed that a history of pet abuse is one of the four most significant indicators of who is at greatest risk of becoming a domestic batterer”

Pet abuse are occurred in 88% of family homes that aren’t even reported .People take in animals for the right reason, while others take in animals for the wrong reason, people kill animals for their own use for clothing, jewelry, and food, and I am not saying everyone should be a vegetarian. 150 billion cats and dogs are killed each year, not including any other type of animal. Those cats and dogs had all probably been abused along the way, and some don’t even make it. First things first, I have this dog named Bailey, he is a Shih Tzu/ Yorkie/Chihuahua mix, our little man is 14 years couple weeks ago, he would barely eat, yet alone move period. 2 weeks ago, my mother sat me down and basically told me she think’s it’s time to terminate his suffering. When I was little, I would always drag my mom into the pet store. I loved pressing my face up against the glass and watching the cute little golden retriever or the labrador puppies playing. If I was really lucky, my mom would let me go to the little rooms where you can play with them. I would pick my favorite one, the cutest one, and Jane, my mom and I would play with him or her. I always gave the puppy a name, and when it was time to go, I would beg her to let me keep it.…

What my dog has taught me Humans are basically social animals, and in learning to coexist more peacefully, our pets could teach us a thing or two. Humans are sometimes arrogant enough to believe that our lives matter more than others, but in owning a dog it 's clear to see why it doesn 't. I know some people consider their pets as a part of their families. I strongly agree with that stance towards the dog I have in my home. Having been a dog owner since the age of nine, I can claim that a lot of growing and maturing goes on during that timeframe. Pets have this ability to teach people things that even humans cannot.…
