On the other hand, nations that promote Communism and other forms of government suppress freethinking. Every country has their own little twist on the way they govern their citizens, but only a few are effective. In order for a government to be successful two things need to happen. Economic growth must be achieved and the standard of living must increase overtime. There have been many cases overtime in which a leader will focus on solely economic growth and in result sacrifice the well-being of his citizens. Joseph Stalin did this in Russia back in the World War 1 period with his desperate actions in trying to race the United States in economics. Stalin’s 5 year plan devastated the well-being of workers and farmers all around the Soviet Union. Thus, the Soviet Union crashed and burned. Corrupt governments are only detrimental to society and will always result in negative outcomes. A current event that goes along the line of corruption, is the Syrian Civil War right now. The Syrian citizens are currently under the rule of a very corrupt “president” known as Bashar al-Assad. He is giving the Syrians no freedom, no voice, and no civil rights, thus resulting in civil rights movements. A Dream is not always as realistic as one would like it to be, but western nations allow for their citizens to realize these dreams and not just wonder “what if”. Liberal thinking is heavy in Western countries. Liberals like to enforce equality amongst all humans; no matter the color of your skin, gender, or background, we can all be great. Western nations such as The United States, Canada, Australia, lots of Europe and others are seeing lots of immigrants integrating within Western culture and taking on the idea of greatness. Family businesses are not really practiced in the West as much. In an ordinary family, each family member takes a different path and often end up studying different occupations. Presidents are elected based on majority voting and when elected does not have the power to turn the nation into a dictatorship. There are second and third branches that will not allow that to happen and will regulate actions of the country. With democracy, comes free-thinking and the right to express yourself, and that is what Western nations try to
