Mind Control Imagine having the most private part of yourself being controlled by someone else; your thoughts, emotions and movements. Such act is referred to mind controlling or brainwashing. This performance can occur on volunteers or on people who are not expecting it. Mind control is a realistic idea that could very well take place in the future. With the help of technology and unbelievable devices, this may be able happen sooner that anyone could expect. To make life a little bit easier, they are currently working on projects to take controlling the mind to a different level. Scientists want technology to be able to read minds and use it to our own advantage. One day, chips may even be planted into the brain, giving it the ability to track and read the human mind. With this there comes a possibility of being able to transmit these brainwaves and transfer them to a computer. “Some people argue there are even better ways of interacting with computers by using brainwaves. Rather than telling a computer what you want, many believe you could just think it” (Metz). However, Nicholas West believes that the future of mind control is already here. The world already has things like surveillances and gadgets that already rewire the human brain. Along with this, there are high tech robots and drones that exist and are believed to manipulate the way a human thinks. As far as a human controlling another human’s mind goes, there is something called magnetic manipulation. This project is currently being tested on soldiers which is supposed to change they way they think, process information, and express emotions (West). It has been used to manipulate the way humans think and comprehend in order for someone else to be benefitted from it. This has been experimented with, by people from different varieties, whether it was the CIA trying to brainwash their people or college students wanting to see if they can play a game with their mind. Both experiments are equally important in figuring out the brain and how easily it can be manipulated. Throughout the extensive research that has been committed to this particular topic, it can be established that such act could hardly benefit anyone’s life.
