The founder of phenomenology, Edmund Husserl, identified the Other as one of the conceptual bases of intersubjectivity, of the relations among people. The characteristic of the Other, is that the person remains alien to the conceived and dominant social norms prevalent in the society that are recognised as the Self. They exhibit features that are not considered normal or superior to the majority. Zygmunt Bauman writes that the notion of otherness is central to the way in which societies establish identity categories. COMPLEX PLOTLINES AND UNIQUE PASSIONS
Game of Thrones, in not only known for its fight for the Iron throne but also for the many plotlines that intertwines with the main one. They depict many complex characters and their unique passions. It is too difficult to not find a person who one cannot relate to for the series provide it all. They create a fantasy world coloured with reality and vice versa. In the survey conducted, 53.8% opted Sam Tarly as the figure whose life journey seems the most meaningful one. Samwell Tarly is the heir to the Tarly House but he joins the Night’s Watch instead. He is picturised as timid, meek and someone who gets easily frightened. However, throughout the series, he has shown impeccable bravery from saving Gilly and her child to killing the Whitewalker with the Dragonstone. He seems to spend most of his time reading and by gaining knowledge which helps Jon Snow in his mission of finding Dragon glass.
