The concept of dating is that it is a part of the human mating process whereby two people meet socially for companionship, beyond the level of friendship, or with the aim of each assessing the other 's suitability as a partner in an intimate relationship or marriage. Courtship has a very similar description yet most young people don 't know what it is. Although the definitions of these two words may not change, with time, the components within them have. As our society and its social views changes, as does courtship and dating. This paper will be discussing two generations in particular and how their attitudes on dating differ. The baby boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, compared to generation Y, born between 1980 and 1995, or as we like to call ourselves, the Millennials. It will address how people met back then, as apposed to how we meet people now, how dating or courting of these generations compares to those of their parents, and how each generation perceives divorce. Much of the information was obtained from personal experiences and opinions from both generations because when you try to research “baby boomers dating behaviors” the information that emerges is not very helpful. My parents met at a place where they both worked in 1980. My dad, born in 1950, was 30 years old and my mother, born in 1962, was 18. The age difference caused quite a bit of speculation at the time but made for a good story. They went through a relationship, although they might not have known…
