The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic zombie drama. The world is inhabited by zombies called walkers that seek to eat the flesh of the living. There is no society as we know it today, no electric, gas, or running water. There is no production or factories thus no workers; this is Marxism to the extreme. Society has devolved to a survival of the fittest only the strong will survive mentality. The living while being ever vigilant against walkers must be keenly aware of the true enemy; the other living who will do anything to survive.
Freed from subsistence working is a man any less alienated? Is he think the high-minded “species-life” that Marx hope of? The answer, in short, is no. The inhabitant of the Walking Dead world has traded the estrangement and alienation from worker to the mere survivor.
