The computer programming career field is growing slower than average but there are a lot of openings in the field and it has a very high occupation rate. There isn’t much needed to become a computer programmer it only requires a bachelor’s degree or higher(“At A Glance” 1). I have wanted to be a programmer for most of my life it is the one career that I have stuck with for many years when I was little it was always I want to be a fireman or a policeman but when i was about 7 or 8 I got a computer in my house and I immediately started downloading a bunch of stuff on it and one day I just thought it would be cool to be able to program something and have other people download it. My extreme interest in programming brought me to research the career …show more content…
Computer Programmers work insides obviously because they are required to use computers which are generally only used indoors unless laptops are in use. Most people don’t realize that even though the work is usually independent it is still a team work a good example of a programming team is the team at RIOT Games, they have many people that work on programming one part of the the game while other groups of people work on other parts of the game they have people that work on the characters while other people work on the items. The best part is that computer programmers work just as long as people with the average job which is 40 hours that isn’t very long but it’s long enough to get things done and if things aren’t done then workers will have to stay later to get them done before the deadline. These 3 working conditions are what I think are the most appealing as I like being indoors I’m not always the greatest at working with teams of people that I can’t talk to which is basically anyone who doesn’t have a common interest but working as a computer programmer I will be working with only people who have the same interests as me and working 40 hours a week is easy there isn’t too much stress and I will be doing something I enjoy so it will be easy to work 40 hours a …show more content…
The median of annual wages are as follows, Central 51160, Kansas City 67670, Northeast 49270, Ozark 57180, Southeast 41050, Southwest 53170, St. Louis 75940, United States 77550(“Wages” 1). If I were to choose an area I would like to work in, in Missouri I would choose St. Louis because it is the highest paying in the area and the median is almost at the median for all the areas in the united states combined. Wages aren’t really that big of a factor for me though if I can’t work in St. Louis it won’t be a big deal because I’m not getting into it just so I can make money. The wages for a computer programmer are pretty

The IT field is a good paying job and would be a good job for most people, but for me the IT world seems like it could get repetitive and old fast. One of the benefits to the IT field is that it is growing fast. There is also an extremely high demand for IT professionals. According to bls.gov it is the fastest growing occupation in the job market today: “[The] employment of computer network architects is projected to grow 15 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations”. This is understandable because nowadays computers are all around us and we need people to fix their problems more than we have ever had to in the past.…

Last year I was solely set on majoring in computer science and being a programmer for a living and making millions while working at home by creating genius apps that would change the world. It sounded like the perfect plan because it would incorporate my love for technology and my creativity into a career that would not have me staring at four walls everyday questioning why I chose this job. The future is frightening, without a taste of what computer programming is, how am I supposed to know if that is the right fit for the rest of my life? While researching this particular major, I stumbled upon an event that sparked my interest hosted by Rutgers University in New Jersey-- HackRU. When I was a child, most of my time was spent on the computer. I wasn’t very interested with the physical computer, rather I was interested in everything the computer could do. It was more fun for me to tinker with the settings than to play games. As I got older in elementary school, I discovered website and game building sites. I built sites on my computer for everything from a fake business that sold toys to a page to host all the pictures from my semi-annual Barbie fashion shows.…
