Why Is Hillary Clinton Unethical

Great Essays
By no means is Hillary Clinton the perfect candidate. From Whitewater to the private email servers, controversy seems to follow Hillary Clinton wherever she goes. Clinton apologists will often cry foul; they feel the Clintons are unfairly targeted. It seems the Clintons are often involved in controversies that are difficult for the general public to understand. The circumstances surrounding Whitewater are so abstruse that even the author finds it difficult to fully comprehend the controversy.
A Washington Post timeline from August 26, 1999 provides a fairly detailed summary of the Whitewater controversy. In a nutshell: the Clintons invested in a real estate venture called Whitewater. When the venture began to fail, Jim and Susan McDougal (partners in the venture and heads of a bank) moved money around to hide the losses of the venture. Because Hillary Clinton worked for the law firm that represented both the real estate venture and the bank, there were questions as to her involvement in the illegal movement of money. After years of intense investigation, no charges were ever filed against Hillary Clinton because of a lack of evidence. Throughout the process, the Clintons were evasive and made every attempt to stonewall the investigation. Regardless

It’s troubling. But it all seems to be awash this election season. For every Clinton Foundation controversy, there’s a Trump Foundation controversy. For every Whitewater, there’s a Trump University. For every lack of transparency on the email scandal, there’s a lack of transparency on Trump’s finances. For every accusation of Clinton selling access, there is yet another case of Trump buying access. At the end of the day, neither candidate is going to win an award for ethics. This makes it impossible to use character as a deciding factor in this election. So, if not character then what?

Clinton lied under oath regarding the affair and therefore was scrutinized by the public and by congress however this did not have a significant impact on his political career. The idea of the public view being saturated was mentioned earlier and this is an example of that idea. Because people had access to more news and information than ever before, they were more concerned with Bill Clinton having extramarital relations rather than something that is arguably significantly more important.…

President Richard Nixon would also be involved with a scandal called the Watergate scandal in 1974. President Nixon resigned from his position as the President of the United because he didn’t want to be impeached and convicted. Clinton's presidency was a seemingly long hard road. During his second term as President, He was impeached due to charges of lying under oath to a grand jury and obstruction of justice. However, the real underlying reason for the impeachment was Clinton’s denial of the Lewinsky Affair. The public opinion of the Lewinsky Affair allowed the Republican party to create a political strategy to use against Clinton. “Contending that Clinton had committed perjury, Republican leaders made the affair the centerpiece of their quest to defeat Democrats in the 1998 congressional elections” (Jansson, 2012,p.398).…

The lying and cover-ups went on and on for months, and as the scandal kept unraveling, President Nixon and White House, and CREEP officials were deliberately misleading the public about the significance of the Watergate affair. Once the election was over, two men Liddy and McCord claimed they weren’t involved in the scandal at the original witness interviews. Until January 10, 1973 when they were put back on trial and found guilty. Nixon continued to cover-up whatever he could to prove that he and his people were not involved. For this reason he was rejected from the American public thus preventing him from succeeding as President! The Clintons had entered into a real estate venture, arguably a sweetheart deal in which their potential for loss was minimized (although the proposition was so goofy that they did eventually lose some money) with some shady characters who were simultaneously looting a local savings and loan institution (Klein, 2003). Between January 3, 1994 and August 3, 1994, President Clinton addressed the “Whitewater” matter in the course of seven press/media appearances (Blaney & Benoit, 2002). Kenneth Starr was originally appointed to investigate a failed Arkansas real estate deal involving the Clintons almost 20 years after the fact, Starr 's scope expanded over time to include a bewildering range of accusations of fraud, obstruction of justice and abuse of power allegedly involving President Clinton and the first lady, as well as some of their closest friends and advisers (Washington Post, 1998). A fraudulent $300,000 federally backed loan to Susan McDougal, some of which went into…

The events that came together for this cartoon to be made are the allegations against Clinton 's personal affairs, and Hillary Clinton 's private email scandal which contained her own personal affairs. This piece was created to demonstrate to its readers that the Clinton family has been known for doing things in private and that when you blow the top off of one story you are bound to find another just as incriminating. Another interesting thing to note is that Bill 's one act from 1998 is still very much alive in pop culture, so Hillary 's actions might live for the rest of her political career as…
