Internet crime, like crime out in the former “wild, wild west,” has arisen because the boundaries of the internet are undefined and easily moved and those who interact on the internet are easily fooled by the “smoke and mirrors” expert criminals can create. It is easy for people in the real world to know when a person is or is not who she or he says they are, when a product is in or out of stock in a store, and when an auctioneer actually has a product to sell.
