One of the first things said was a calorie is a calorie. To lose weight you must burn more than you eat and to gain you must eat more than you burn. Good calorie or bad calorie it doesn’t matter, no matter what that’s how it goes to lose or gain weight. One of the big factors that contributes to obesity is our food environment. When we are working, running errands or don’t have time to make a meal, we eat out. The MacDonalds drive through is so convenient and time saving for everyone to just swing though. Tip one being get rid of all fruit juices because even though they may seem healthy with the words “fruit” and containing “vitamin c” there are other, healthier options. The second tip being keep insulin down, eat carb with fiber which will lessen the insulin response because blood sugar won’t go up as high. This will help to not repeat the cycle. The third tip being wait 20 minutes before a second portion because we have 22 feet of intenstines. This being said it takes the food to travel 22 feet before we reach satiety. Without that feel it is easy to overeat. The last tip is to by screen time with activity. If you watch tv for an hour, then go ride a bike for an hour. With being in college these tips really stuck out to be becasue without all the sports and the down time college can have, it’s important to still stay healthy and active.
