I think that communication is a process in which information is presented to a receiver or group of receivers. Communication can also be about sharing ones feelings and ideas with other people; it is also about the transferring information to help a person understand the purpose and meaning of the senders message. Communications can happen in both one-way and two-way. Messages can also be sent through body language, gestures, facial expressions and having eye contact with the receiver. Verbal communication is using some form of words to express to someone your thought or feelings; for example, lets say you said to someone “I don 't really like you” that is a verbal communication and a Non-verbal communication is a process where people communicate without talking but only involve the sending and receiving message without words. We can not eliminate ethnocentrism, but we can try and stay away from it by respecting other cultures, try and listen to everyone 's feedback, and imagine ourselves in the place of the listener or speaker. Learning about ethnocentrism in this past lecture and it 's meanings has really opened my eyes. We all use ethnocentrism without even realizing it. I have always thought my culture and what I believe is the only right thing, but that is far from the truth. I am going to try to really keep in mind what I have learned about ethnocentrism and apply it to my own communication processes weather I am a sender or receiver.
