Tinnitus is a common symptom of perceiving sound without external stimuli outside the ear. Tinnitus is often referred to as ear ringing or buzzing sensation, where a sound is constantly repeated inside the person's ear with or without external sound present. Tinnitus originates in the middle ear. Sounds can occur at any time and sounds can vary in loudness and pitch. Prolonged exposure to loud noise can contribute to tinnitus and thereby causing permanent hearing loss.
There are many factors involved leading to Tinnitus. Specific cause is still not yet known but variety of factors contributes to Tinnitus. According to Han BI et al., Tinnitus is a not a disease but a symptoms with many factors (2009). Symptoms that can cause Tinnitus are prolonged
