Most states in the USA have adopted the Common Core Standards method of education; the others have standards similar to it. Although it is being used most everywhere in the country, there are still many critics who believe that our grade-school students would be better off without it. At the same time, there are hardcore advocates who believe that Common Core Standards can substantially help our country’s education system. Both sides of the argument have valid points, but if you take a closer look at the issue at hand, the good outweighs the bad. The Common Core Standards is helping our students, teachers, and our country’s global education ranking. One of the biggest issues detractors have with Common Core Standards is that they believe students will not be able to learn at their own pace if forced to have a certain understanding of concepts by a specific year. Some say that for kids to learn correctly, they must gradually develop in their understanding of school subjects and not feel rushed and simply memorize facts. The second biggest problem people have with the educational program is that it limits creativity in both teachers, with how they choose to teach their subjects, and students. Some arguments state that the standards will not let kids learn in other areas that fascinate them, but instead, will be forced to stick to a solid regimen.
