Arts and literature always have been a significant element of every society that profoundly captures and communicate the existing elements of the society with reference to time and context. Be it the paintings and poetry at the time of the French revolution by Rousseau or the theatre works accounting for the responsibility of communicating the happenings in the society and bringing out the actual ongoing trend. Same goes with the documentary The Color of your skin & movie Crash, which brings out the shame of the prevalent Racism in United States of America and also the complexities of this form of stratification.

If asked to a layman with very little deep understanding of the concept, he would reply racism to be something where he would refer to discrimination, denial of privileges, superiority and inferiority etc. The same thing the director in the documentary tries to explain and form an argument that as to what exactly racism refers to. For the black officers in the film, racism is something that they have been experiencing since their childhood, they being discriminated on social and economic grounds. As the black police officer says his childhood experience where his mother said he could not go to a particular place just because he was black, and he being at that tender age could not really make a justification and gets puzzled that why he is not allowed to go
