The Collins 'Carter': A Narrative Fiction

“Who’s there?” Sam shouted into the darkness that lay in front of her. She waited for an answer, but could not hear anything over the sound of her heart beating. The Collins’ carpeted floor cushioned Sam’s feet. Even though she could see nothing, Sam knew this house well enough to know where she was. She could register what surrounded her without actually being able to see. Sam knew the way out from her current location, but she needed to find the boys first. Surrounded by complete silence she could hear absolutely nothing. The light seemed to take the noises with it until, THUMP! Sam jumped out of her skin. She knew she should have stayed with the boys. They could have protected her better than she could fend for herself. She could not make …show more content…
Once Sam could think straight, she began searching for the boys or anything to bring her closer to them. Sam found her way to the stairs. She hobbled up them one by one. “Carter!” she whispered. No answer. “Glenn!” she yelled a bit louder than before. Sam walked down the hall, trying to make her bunny slippers as quiet as possible. The Jaws music was back. It was getting louder and louder as Sam walked down the hallway. When she got to the end of the hall, the music stopped. Carter noticed her standing in the doorway and ran to Sam’s arms. Sam stood there in shock. She couldn’t believe that the crazy man actually killed one of …show more content…

(Second Mistake)
After ten minutes, Carter didn’t return. Sam began to get worried. She headed down the hall to find him. Then out of nowhere, something grabbed her. She screamed at the top of her lungs for help. Her oversized shirt was tugged and spun her around. Her attacker covered his face with a mask, which she had flung off across the hallway. He had a face with cuts and scars all over. Scared of her screams, Sam’s attacker fled out into the backyard. Now was her chance. She ran and picked up the black mask he wore. A name was printed on the inside, “Frank Ellison”. This name sounded very familiar to Sam. “Hello Sammy” This time the voice wasn’t coming from inside her head. It was coming from down the hallway. Sam began to scream for Carter, but no sound came out. She looked down the hallway and saw a figure standing in the shadows. Sam was frozen with fear. Her flight complex kicked in mentally, but physically she could not move. Sam watched the figure walk into the light, and then nothing. Sam saw
