In the story “ Maniac Magee” the author Jerry Spinelli developed the character, Amanda Beale. She was developed as a helpful and collaborative girl. For example, in the story, Amanda showed collaboration with her family and her friends. She was really helpful to her parents and to her friends. If it wasn’t for her, Maniac Magee wouldn’t have had a home. In the story, it showed that Amanda Beale was collaborative by helping others when they needed help.

In the book, Maniac Magee, Jerry Spinelli showed that Maniac was fast in the beginning because he wrote that Maniac took a year to run 200 miles and when he wrote that, he also wrote, “...figuring the way he could run…” Jerry Spinelli also showed that Maniac was kind because, in the book, he wrote, “Maniac smiled. "We can fix it." ” I thought that example showed that Maniac was kind because Maniac was saying to Amanda that they can fix the book instead of him just leaving her and saying that it is Amanda’s problem now. Jerry Spinelli showed that Mars Bar likes to be the guy that everyone praises because, in the book, he wrote, “Mars Bar jammed his arms downward, stuck out his chin, sneered. " Am I bad?"…

Jerry Spinelli used descriptive details, dialogue, actions, and thoughts to develop the main character in the book, Maniac Magee. I think that the character trait that Jerry Spinelli was describing for Jeffrey (Maniac) Magee is helpful. I think this and have text support for Maniac being helpful. One is that he untied little kids knots, as it says in the text “Little kids, especially preschoolers, came from all over, bringing him their knots.…

In this essay I will be discussing the experiences and traits of both Cheryl and April Raintree, and how I personally relate to them. The sisters are two very strong women, as displayed by Cheryl standing up for her beliefs and her pride in her identity, as well as April's resilience even in the toughest times. To begin, Cheryl's character is a strong, independent woman who knows what is right and will challenge those who don't respect her opinions and beliefs. The scene in chapter 4 where Cheryl talks back to her teacher is a prime example of said quality; even when sent to the principals office and had Mrs. DeRosier called, the young Cheryl stood her ground because she knew she was right. This trait resonates with me because I…

I think that Amanda will influence Maniac the most. She will probably influence him the most because she gave him one of her books. Since maniac’s parents passed away and he ran away from his aunt and uncle he probably doesn’t have a great education. He always carried the book with him. The book she gave him probably also made Maniac feel lucky that someone would be so kind to give him it.…

The relationship between Christine, Heed, Junior, and May is throughout the whole novel, but the beginning starts with an omniscient character named “L” introducing them as adults to kids, and from past to present. Showing the different times of Cosey 's life after being dead to when he was still alive, and how his immediate family is living their life without him. Morrison 's non linear style is confusing and distracting, where reading and paying more attention happens over and over again. Morrison 's historical references is what defines her work and what gives readers a better understanding of her type of literature. The time frame, 1940 to 1990 provides background information of the time period in her novel where and why everything occurred.…
