Strangelove ultimately took these series of events, and made a comedic classic satire film. It is eminent that though this movie is ultimately satiric, Dr. Strangelove had ultimately proved its historical accuracy. In a nutshell, Dr. Strangelove deals with the event of the United States actually going to war with Russia. However these orders to go to war aren’t given from the nations leader, they are given from a paranoid communistic crazed general by the name of Jack D. Ripper. Jack D. Ripper is a prime example of how eager the U.S. government militants were, concerning going to war with Cuba and Russia. When plan “R” is enforced by Ripper, pilots have to follow through with the order, unless they “receive a three digit code” from the General himself to call off the mission, in which he never does. This call made by the general not only sends panic all over, but especially in the War Room and at the base the General resides. In addition, within the war room members on the team also embody the urging of going to war, the American President telephones the Soviet Premier to inform him of the accident that has occurred, and all planes ultimately were retrieved except for one. In the war room Dr. Strangelove informs the members about Russia’s “doomsday machine” and if a bomb were to drop and explode over Soviet territory, its machine would “automatically retaliate against their targets” and would end all life on planet Earth . Through the film Three Presidents Go To War, the events leading up to the Cuban Missile Crisis and during showed not only the fear, but also the ultimate preparation that consisted and the resolving of the conflict that had taken place. Dr. Strangelove, however which is essentially a satire based on the disputes of the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis, creating an accurate portrayal of what could have happened through the idea of comedy.
