The Cold War: Movie Analysis

There have been several movies made about this time; they always feature three things. Communism, nuclear fallout, and high tensions are the three things that are always in movies. This is the Cold War and the place is the infamous Communist Bloc. The Communist Bloc is a collection of Eastern European countries that were either “persuaded” or simply influenced by the Communist Soviet Union. The Communist Bloc was all because of what happened in World War II. What happened in World War II was the Germans attacked Soviet Russia after a very recent non-aggression pact. So instead of leaving themselves open to be attacked again, they made a buffer for themselves out of Eastern European countries. Most countries resisted Communism so Staling forced them to be Communist or have very similar ideals by helping overthrow their local governments or bribing the leaders of said countries. One of the main countries that resisted was Poland but the Soviets just pushed them to the side like an older brother might do but still appeasing them enough to not attack them by keeping contact with them for economic porperces but not supporting them in any other ways than that. Another thing that really helped the Soviets gain power in the area was that while they were having the countries around them turn Communist while the European countries complained and tried to tell the United States and Great Britain they just ignored the small inconsequential countries. What differed this time from when they had tried a similar thing was this time most of their Communist Regimes did not fall apart or be overthrown unlike in 1919. Eastern European countries and their leaders that were not Communist or under the blanket of Soviet influence started seeing the Soviets and their biggest enemy instead of the most previously Germany since now the Russians were make most of Eastern Europe their puppet states. The people of the United States still believe that the time that was the Communist Bloc was still one of the most tense times in modern U.S. History. This is because while the U.S. and Great Britain had their back turned the Soviet Union took over huge portions of land under either puppet states or simply invaded it and took it over then making the Allied powers very angry with the Soviets and thereby almost creating a nuclear war that would have decimated both countries to an extreme degree. We only now know how close there was to a nuclear war since the Soviet, U.S. and Great Britain have since declassified all their information showing that at one point the Soviets were right about to launch an ICBM (Inter-Continental-Ballistic-Missile) at the United States starting a massive nuclear fallout for most of the
