Importance Of The Code Of Ethics In Education

The National Education Association basis its code of ethics off two principles, the first principal is commitment to the student and the second principal is commitment to the profession.

• Shall not unreasonably deny the student’s access to varying points of view. I believe that it is important for teachers to show students more than one point of view when teaching a lesson. This allows students to gain a better understanding of the world around them. In my future classroom I will be teaching lessons that incorporate cultural diversity. I believe that students need to have a good understanding of their own culture (where they came from and the history of their culture) in order to accept and respect other cultures. Teachers need to be a positive role model for all of their students and teach acceptance and understanding. All students should be treated with respect, dignity, equity, and fair. In my future classroom I plan to create a positive classroom environment that is inclusive of all students. I will work hard to create a family environment with in the classroom and work hard to differentiate lessons so that everyone feels included and has their individual needs met. I think that this applies for all jobs/careers and that a person with good ethics would never make up false acquisitions about a coworker. Teachers need to practice good ethical judgment and be a positive role model for their students, families, school, peers/colleague, and community. Making false acquisitions about a colleague is not an ethical practice that should be role modeled by teachers. If I were ever in a situation where I do not get along with a colleague, I would take time out of my day to speak with them about the issue. I think that it is important to have open communication and work out differences with your colleagues in order to build respect for one another and create a solid working
