Code of ethics are guidelines that set the standards of any work environment. In the IT Industry code of ethics has major importance. If they weren’t in place, there could be major consequences. In this essay I will discuss two points of ethics in the IT industry and explain how important they are to the IT industry. The two points I will cover are Non-Discriminatory ethics and ethical skills.
Firstly, Non-Discriminatory ethics means all members should treat people with respect and equality. If Non-Discriminatory ethics didn’t exist in today’s IT industry, it be will lead to disaster because people will dislike one another and will not even consider showing respect to each other. Non-Discriminatory is being courtesy of others and accepting people for who they are. Ethical skills is being able to use knowledge and expertise for the right purposes.
Task 2
Being a consultant comes with a lot of responsibility and being faithful towards customers. Ethical behaviour of consultant means that consultants are providing expert advice professionally and not misleading customers to your benefits or because you dislike some customers. Its about pointing customers in the right path. A consultant being unethical is when they start insulting their power by misleading any customer with fraud information.
Ethical behaviour in managers is a manager who takes care of his team members and making sure everything runs smoothly within the business. The manager is always ready and helping around to any one that needs assistance. The copyright act 1994 enables people and businesses and industries to protect ideas and products from being stolen by other competitive industries and companies. When there is copyright label it is legally protected by the government and legal actions will be taken if in way this act is broken. For instance, having the same design as apple iPhone product apple can sue you because of infringement of illegally copying their product or having some features that belong to apple. Using them with out permission from apple can land big fines and prison time for breaking this law.
Health and safety affects the IT industry under the health and safety act 1992. It is a must for the industry to provide the employees with safe equipment and make the work environment user friendly for the health of the employees. It is important to have the right requirements which meets the safety standards of reducing the risk of employees getting injured in a work
