In grade eleven I took a two-credit cooperative education (co-op) course. The principle placed me into a split classroom of grade 1/2 students. Being placed in a classroom, working along side a teacher, made it an effective learning opportunity. It was an excellent teaching experience, in that I was able to see a variety of teaching styles, in a short period of time. Classroom management was a skill that I most needed to work on, by the end of the placement I was able to identify strategies and apply them to the class environment. I was immersed in an elementary school, primary grades for 15 weeks and it solidified to me that it’s exactly what I am meant to do.
