The Climb Poem Analysis

Improved Essays
The song that I chose is “the climb”, by Miley Cyrus, the reason I chose this song is because when I was younger I would always go around the house singing this song without realizing the strong meaning behind it. There is many literary devices in “The Climb” one of them is mountain that she is climbing, it is a symbol for life barriers. Another literally device that is used is personification, when Cyrus says “but there’s a voice inside my head saying you’ll never reach it”. In addition the line “there’s always gonna be another mountain, im always gonna wanna make it move”, is a metaphor for having to deal with problems that occur in life. The climb does not have a rhyme scheme it is a free verse.

Imagine being looked down upon and your enemies expect you to have your head down. They expect you to be broken with tears running down your face because the world is against you. Having that in mind yet, you couldn’t care less on what the world labeled you as because you’re strong, knowledgeable, and refuse to surrender to your enemies. The poem, Still I Rise, clearly addressed to an oppressor of black people.…

Growing up as a hispanic woman in America has always been more difficult than I thought it was going to be. There were many times where I felt excluded, judged or like I am not as good as other people. Throughout my life this has always affected my happiness because it was never as easy as I wanted it to be. With that being said, many people that are also a different race also struggle with this problem and this affects their wellbeing as well. I came to realize what a struggle being a person of color is to other people as well after carefully reading a short story by Junot Diaz called “Wildwood” and a poem by Claudia Rankine called “From Citizen Six” where both of the characters were treated unfairly, and ran into issues on a daily basis because…

Up North, a poem written by Suzanne Kindler has a great meaning, and as I read her poem I enjoyed it for many reasons. Being up north is different to everyone, and for me, it's the quaint town that I decided to write my portfolio about. Reading this poem made me think and enjoy how true it really was to spending time up North. The poem states there’s no sign to say “You’ve arrived”, I especially like how that was incorporated into the poem. Up North is described as your special place that brings peace of mind.…

Also, when the song says, “There’s always gonna be another mountain, I'm always gonna wanna make it move. Always gonna be a uphill battle, sometimes I’m gonna have to lose”() symbolizes America and how she will trust her instincts and push her way through until she and everyone she cares about is happy. ““When you love someone, you sacrifice’” (Cass) shows how one has to be brave even if they have to let the one they love go. America has a tough decision between Aspen and Maxon, and the song The Climb resembles some of the bravery it takes to go through tough…

After analysing these two poems we can observe that “Fern Hill” by Dylan Thomas and “Let’s go to Barry Island, Maggie fach” by Idris Davies have many similarities as well as many differences. This can be seen during many occasions throughout both poems. In both poems the two main themes are people and places. In the poem “Fern Hill” the theme of people is revealed in the first stanza as Dylan Thomas personifies “Time” so that the reader thinks that “time” is a person.…

The poem “Dreams” is symbolic of the ideas of an African American woman who wants to eradicate the inequalities and unrighteous indignations visited upon people of color. The poem's literary word choice is dependent upon the word “revolution." The first part of the poem shares the author's concept of the insurgency that would fundamentally impact social, systematic, and institutionalized racial oppression and hatred in America. “I used to dream militant dreams of taking over america to show these white folks how it should be done.” She dreams of doing this whilst impressing the world with her “perceptive powers of stopping riots and bringing about peace."…

    The Scream Poem Analysis

“The Scream” I really like this painting because somehow it involves mystery and insecurity and to my eyes, the rare views in it reflect a sense of how deep the feelings and thoughts of a person can be. In addition, the fact that the composition does not allow viewers to appreciate the face of the screaming person, is what has drawn me to it. Even though it seems to be that it was a lovely afternoon for everyone, it seems that it was not for the scared looking person. Although two boats are seen on the lake and two people walking very pleasingly behind, the scared looking person seems to be astonished and perhaps confused toward something. Hence, looking at this mysterious individual posing his hands on his face with his mouth open has given me the impression that he or she is appreciating something non real that no one else is able to notice; no one but him.…
