The classroom environment is an essential and effective instructional tool. If the classroom resources are arranged in the manner in which students learn and develop it will certainly support active learning. My preschool classroom is set up in a manner that will assist me in promoting literacy effectively throughout each of the learning areas. Within each of the areas there are bookshelves that contain a variety of reading materials, such as read aloud, picture books, story books, recipe books, magazines, genres, and informational context that will capture the interest of the students ( Seefeldt, C., & Galper, A., 2001). They are directly a reflection of my viewpoints on how each student learns proficiently. The placements of the tables allow a teacher to gather students in smaller groups for different activities when needed and serve as center tables for literacy and reading opportunities. In placing sofas in the class I offer students comfy area to utilize within various activities. The kidney table is place in the corner arranged with the chairs away from the other areas of the room and will be used for the period of a guided reading activity. This will assist in minimizing distraction as I coach and scaffold as needed within the allotted time of instructional reading. My classroom goal is to create a literary-rich environment that provides students with a sense of security and comfortability. I the rugs will be one solid color to make certain not disturb the active learning of students. Overall, my classroom is designed in a manner in which I believe students will actively work and learn within an encouraging, understanding environment that is beneficial to supportive learning.
