Knowing my student’s strengths and weaknesses are important, but also finding out their likes and dislikes and the ways in which they like learning the best allow me to get a full concept as to who they are and how I can plan my instruction to meet their needs. By creating the learning profiles for these three students, I have come to the conclusion that I will tier my instruction and allow for student choice. By creating lessons that involve student choice, my students will be able to choose the activity that they think they would be able to answer or complete to the best of their ability. This also allows me to teach the same lesson, and have students aiming to reach the same goal. By adding variety to my lesson planning, I will be able to create a fun and engaging environment that will consist of lots of technology. Technology is an important factor in 21st century learning, because technology envelopes our present students. Another way that these chart findings will inform my instructional planning is by figuring out how I will assess the class. Because not all of my students have the same strengths, it would be unfair to assess them all the same way. For example, Aiden is not focused enough to take a written test, so his best bet is formative assessments. By asking him to answer questions aloud, my assessment of his content knowledge will be fulfilled because I know that his attentiveness in class will allow him to be able to answer questions adequately. Therefore, I would give my students the option of taking summative assessments in a different way. I would either tier the complexity of the questions on an essay, or ask the students to complete their assessment any way they think would present a better outcome.
