Why Did The Confederate Lose The Civil War

Once the Civil War unfolded, both the Union and the Confederates took steps to ensure their success. The Union based most of their military movements from Lincoln’s strategies, rather than strong and aggressive generals which dominated the south. The confederate generals had the mentality to stand and fight, but at the risk of having exhausted soldiers and chances of desertion. The northern troops took advantage of their “extensive” naval powers and dominated the rivers which branched throughout the confederate states, thus inhibiting the southern troops to truly use their geographic resources to benefit the war effort. The slaves took it upon themselves to rise up against the oppression of the slave system and assist the Union cause. The Slaves gave information regarding Confederate troops whereabouts and generalizations of the much needed supply locations. Union forces took advantage of this information and used it against the Confederate troops. Also, the Union forces would take the slaves and use them to assist the Unions forces, by fighting, helping with food production, or continuing the spy activity. Later on, this turned the slaves into contraband to the confederate nation and created higher tensions surrounding the Civil War. The confederate states could not control the slaves as easily as they had during the years prior, because the infrastructure surrounding the plantation life switched to the control of women or assistants. Slaves would rarely rise up against their male masters, due to a fear of enduring physical discipline.
