Giving that Massachusetts and Virginia were colonized, for two different intentions, by two different kinds of people, the way they survived and managed these colonies differed from one another. Likewise, Massachusetts was colonized by the Puritans, which ventured to this unknown land to escape religious prosecution, and to practice their religion in peace. Massachusetts settled for families to practice their religion in peace without any religious prosecution. As well as having a longer expectancy, and having a lower mortality rate from disease and illnesses. On the other hand, Virginia became settled, because of the desire for wealth. However, Virginia went through hard ships due to the fact that none of the settlers had any knowledge with farming, causing many of the settlers to die. By examining the documents between Virginia and Massachusetts it is clear to see the difference in preparation, living, and intentions between the two colonies. Not only did the planning of a government differ between the two, but also the way they managed the colony to keep it
