In Chapter 15, The cigarette, Marji went to Kansas. She was trying to fit in because if she didn't go with them her friends would have thought she was chicken. In the chapter Tyrol, she was able to fit in by getting good grades. She also drew the teacher caricatures which also made her more noticeable.
She goes from trying to fit in, then experiencing and knowing war and finally to just being herself. Overall, Marji is meeting a lot of new people and making friends. She’s become a really dynamic character.
