The Chronological Strategy: The Life Of Temple Grandin

In my speech one, I used the chronological strategy. The chronological strategy is used when a speaker is describing the history of an event or to instruct how to go about doing a task (Ford-Brown, 2014, p.315). During my first speech, I spoke about the life of Temple Grandin, and why her life made her my hero. The audience can tell I use this strategy because I first start with her birth. I go through all of the adversity and accomplishments she has had throughout her life. I then finish with who she is today. I started with a topic sentence for each part of her life I was speaking about. This way the listener knew where I was in her life. Speech two I used the topical strategy. It wasn’t too fast or slow, and it had a nice comfortable pace. From the time 5:25 to 6:49, I had very good rate. I was slower at first to let my audience think about the point I was making. As I got more into the conclusion, I sped up because they didn’t have to process any new information.
The rate is the how fast or slow a speaker speaks (Ford-Brown, 2014, p.213). In my first speech, I speed up and slowed down a lot. I was trying to think of what I was going to say and would slow down. It made the speech uncomfortable and hard to follow. By my last speech, I could flow through my speech and it hardly ever changed rates uncomfortably.
Pause
In my last speech, I didn’t have any long pauses that didn’t make sense. At the time 1:06, I took a brief pause. This pause was comfortable, let me take a breath, and let the audience collect their thoughts.
A pause is when a speaker takes a very brief break (Ford-Brown, 2014, p.214). They can also be used to emphasis a topic for a listener. My first speech was kind of a disaster with pauses. I would take a break not for my audiences but for me to collect my thoughts. My final speech used pauses appropriately and when were needed. It was smooth and constant with no awkward

I used them as illustrations when I listed opinions and things that could be done. I also used them as emblems when I was expressions rhetorical questions and important thoughts. From 1:53 to 2:15, I used my hands to show just how strongly I feel about the issue. They aid in persuasion to act on the issue.
Gestures are when speakers used body parts to emphasize thoughts and emotions (Ford-Brown, 2014, p.220). I did use pretty good gestures in my first speech, but they were used enough or in the right spots. In my first speech the gestures I made were very big, distracting, and random. In my last speech, I become more controlled and appropriate.
Posture
In my third speech, I sat up and had a very welcoming, open expression. I maintained this throughout my entire speech.
Posture the set and stance of the body (Ford-Brown, 2014, p. 221). Again, I had good posture during my first speech, but I was much to rigid. I had a very stressed look about me, and I didn’t look comfortable. By my third speech, I was sitting up tall, relaxed, and welcoming. This made the audience even more comfortable and engaged with my speech.
Appearance
In speech three, my hair looks nice and I’m wearing a solid colored shirt. I look presentable and knowledgable about my
