This event included a mixture of drugs, alcohol, parties, and prisons. It started when I was fifteen and my step-father, the man who raised me, passed away. It was at this point that I tried marijuana for the first time. The next week I took my first narcotic pill, while also drinking alcohol. This started off a quick downward spiral, …show more content…
I did read the Bible a few times while incarcerated, but none of what I read hit home yet. I get out at age twenty-one and lasted three months before my next arrest. I spent a few months in county jail and was right back out. I made it six months of partying and using before parole picks me up again. This time when I got out of prison again, right before my twenty second birthday, my mom said she was going to help me. Her help was dropping me off at a homeless shelter. This is where I accept Christ as my Savior. I end up giving my addiction to Him. I work from the bottom up. I get a job, vehicle, and learn how to serve the Lord. Through all of this God gave me a heart for the broken and lost. He made it easier for me to love others wherever they are at in life. I now do street, prison, and youth ministries. I have real goals in life to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, help others it the best way possible, and make disciples. I am honestly committed to my calling and will do whatever it takes to be the most effective soldier for Christ. I believe that college is the next step for me, and I am willing to put forth a lot of effort to see this thing

In everyone’s life there is one or two significant events that change them. In August of 2015 I traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina for ten days with my church on a missionary trip. The experience of being exposed to a culture outside my own showed me how diverse, yet similar people can be. Being able to first-handedly be apart of a different culture brought to life the fact that humans are basically the same anywhere you go and are interwoven by the same values and interests. Being able to easily build relationships with people who did not even speak the same language as me impacted me greatly, showing me that I have common interests with people on the other side of the hemisphere.…
