The most influential event that will affect my goals and future work at school, would also be most likely the most influential event in my entire life. This event stretched for seven years it was life changing, came with a lot of pain, it was scary sometimes, involved a lot of loneliness, but in the end brought me to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and gave me a foundation to build my future goals upon. This event included a mixture of drugs, alcohol, parties, and prisons. It started when I was fifteen and my step-father, the man who raised me, passed away. It was at this point that I tried marijuana for the first time. The next week I took my first narcotic pill, while also drinking alcohol. This started off a quick downward spiral, …show more content…
I did read the Bible a few times while incarcerated, but none of what I read hit home yet. I get out at age twenty-one and lasted three months before my next arrest. I spent a few months in county jail and was right back out. I made it six months of partying and using before parole picks me up again. This time when I got out of prison again, right before my twenty second birthday, my mom said she was going to help me. Her help was dropping me off at a homeless shelter. This is where I accept Christ as my Savior. I end up giving my addiction to Him. I work from the bottom up. I get a job, vehicle, and learn how to serve the Lord. Through all of this God gave me a heart for the broken and lost. He made it easier for me to love others wherever they are at in life. I now do street, prison, and youth ministries. I have real goals in life to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, help others it the best way possible, and make disciples. I am honestly committed to my calling and will do whatever it takes to be the most effective soldier for Christ. I believe that college is the next step for me, and I am willing to put forth a lot of effort to see this thing

These three events influenced me in different aspects. The 2008 presidential election of President Barack Obama influenced me mentally because it gave me more strength within myself that anything is possible. If an African American can be the president of the United States than a female African American like myself can too. The evolution of social media and technology influenced me because it open my eyes up to a whole new learning, but it also decreased my ability to use my own brain at times. And the acceptance of women educations influenced me because if it wasn’t other women standing up for the rights of women I would not be in school right now studying to be a social worker instead I would be at home working like a slave for my husband.…
