I had somehow managed to turn the volume all the way up instead of down. I woke up pissed off that I couldn’t follow my usual routine and hit snooze on my alarm. I had no idea where snooze was on this ancient clock. As I got ready for work, I realized I was becoming more and more irritated. I was used to easing myself into the morning with check Facebook and slowly waking up in bed. I felt completely disconnected and cursedmyself for unplugging from everything. However, I DID remember to bring my watch and decided to grab my book for the long break I had for today’s schedule. When I got to my midday break, I decided to go to see my mom so I could check my homework and see if she needed anything-she had just had a full knee replacement which was also her 34thsurgery! My mom and I have such different schedules that it’s rare for us to be able to just sit and enjoy each other’s company. When I got there, she told me that she had been trying to call me because the doctor had called to reschedule my surgery for later in the month. I reminded her that I had given up my phone for 72 hours and she made fun of my horrible timing. Good thing I had written their number in for an alternate number to be contacted on! It was nice to sit and catch up with my mom and help her get things done that she couldn’t do without help. It made time pass and before I knew it, it was time for my afternoon bus run. When I got to work, I found out they were putting me on a transit which made mereally excited since it had a radio unlike my usual bus. Having the music on made my run go quickly and put the kids in a great mood as well. During my wait at the schools I drive for, I was able to clean my bus since I didn’t have my phone to distract me. I found myself engaging in deeper conversations with my students and realized how eager they were to have my full attention. The rest of the night was spent reading. I finished the book I had started and
